CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man is accused of stealing a Charleston Fire Department SUV and leading authorities on a chase from Goose Creek to Charleston.

The Post and Courier reports 33-year-old David Lee Lathan, of Summerville, was arrested on charges including failure to stop for blue lights. An incident report says a fire department worker reported the SUV stolen on Sunday and told police the keys had been left in the ignition of the unlocked vehicle.

A Goose Creek police officer found the vehicle a short time later and saw Lathan get in it and drive off. It says officers gave chase and eventually the stopped the vehicle.

Authorities say Lathan was uncooperative and tackled by an officer. They say Lathan underwent a mental health check and tested positive for methamphetamine.
