JASPER, Ga. (AP) - A north Georgia sheriff’s gun inadvertently fired into the floor of a Walmart in north Georgia.
The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office says in a Facebook post that Sheriff Donnie Craig’s gun misfired Tuesday night at the Jasper Walmart.
The sheriff’s office describes the gunshot as an accidental discharge. It says the sheriff’s office is investigating and has also notified the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The post describes the gun as the sheriff’s “backup weapon.” The sheriff’s office says the gun was secured in Craig’s waistband when it fired and that no one was handling it.
