CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Anderson was ejected from the third quarter of Sunday’s game at the Carolina Panthers for a helmet-to-helmet hit on tight end Greg Olsen.
Olsen’s body went limp and he fumbled the ball upon being hit. The referees conferred for a few minutes before announcing a 15-yard penalty and Anderson’s disqualification.

Earlier in the game, Panthers special teamer DeAndrew White laid a helmet-to-helmet hit on Redskins punt returner Trey Quinn. The play was penalized, but White was not ejected, leading some to question the consistency of the officials’ rulings.
Huge hit on Trey Quinn as he fielded the punt. Helmet to helmet as the ball arrived. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/jDUkrESBVO

How is Ryan Anderson ejected from the game for an incidental helmet-to-helmet hit on Greg Olsen, who also lowered his helmet, but the guy who blasted a defenseless Trey Quinn is allowed to stay in the game? On what planet does that make sense? #Redskins

The lack of consistency is extremely frustrating, but I agree with the call (and ejection) on Ryan Anderson re: helmet-to-helmet contact. #WSHvsCAR
