FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) - Trial for a woman charged in the death of a Fort Dodge woman has been moved from Webster County to Story County.

The Des Moines Register reports that the move of 27-year-old Mackenzie Knigge’s trial was ordered Tuesday by a judge to counter pretrial publicity. Knigge’s trial was to have begun Monday. The charge against her was also amended to aiding and abetting first-degree murder. Her trial is now set for June.

Knigge and 26-year-old Phillip Williams, of Lafayette, Indiana, are accused of killing 26-year-old Jessica Gomez in August 2017 in Knigge’s Clare apartment.

Knigge and Gomez, who were once friends, were reported missing on Aug. 9, 2017. Knigge was arrested with Williams a day later in Indiana. Gomez’s burned body was found in a ditch near Clare on Aug. 12.

Williams’ first-degree murder trial is set for March.
