White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shot down Anthony Scaramucci’s claims that “morale is terrible” in the West Wing.
“I definitely would not agree,” Mrs. Sanders said. “I think we are in a great place. We have an incredible story to tell. We had a historic first year.”
Mr. Scaramucci, who briefly served as White House communications director, made the remarks last week after longtime Trump aide Hope Hicks resigned as communications director.
Mr. Scaramucci blamed the man who fired him from that post, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, with carrying on a reign of “fear and intimidation” that destroyed morale.
Ms. Sanders said White House staff were going strong, despite a record level of turnover of high-level officials during the administration’s first year.
“We are continuing to focus on the things President Trump campaigned on,” she said. “We are excited about what we’ve done and where we are going, and we are going to continue working hard for the American people.”
