DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Attorney General’s office is investigating complaints about a bankrupt Des Moines landscaping business.

The Des Moines Register reports that Bob Lenc Landscaping is accused of taking thousands of dollars from customers for jobs that were never completed, even after being told by a judge to stop.

The business filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and a Chapter 11 reorganization plan in 2009. Since then, several banks, suppliers and customers have gone to court seeking payment from the company.

The business was shut down in May after officials show it owed the state more than $754,000 for unpaid unemployment insurance for employees. But several people had already given Bob Lenc money for jobs before it closed.

Those customers can contact the attorney general’s Consumer Protection Division at www.iowaattorneygeneral.gov .
