MADRID (AP) - Valencia has signed Argentine forward Luciano Vietto on loan from fellow Spanish club Atletico Madrid for the rest of the season.
Valencia says the deal includes an option to buy the player.
Vietto will be reunited with coach Marcelino Garcia Toral. Vietto had the best season of his career under Garcia Toral at Villarreal in 2014-15, when he scored 20 goals.
Since then, Vietto has been disappointing in two stints at Atletico and on loan at Sevilla.
Vietto says “confidence and regular minutes will let me do again what I did at Villarreal.”
Valencia is third in the Spanish league behind Atletico and leader Barcelona.
