GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert say one person is dead after being trapped in a car on fire following a collision with a moving train at a crossing.
The car overturned and caught fire after the wreck early Wednesday morning on Val Vista Drive between Ray and Warner road.
Twitter posts by Gilbert police and fire agencies did not provide additional information on circumstances on the collision, and police and Union Pacific Corp. spokesmen did not immediately respond to emailed requests for additional information.
The Union Pacific is a freight railroad whose branch line serving Phoenix passes through Gilbert.
