Rep. Tom Cole said Tuesday the House has passed a bill funding the Children’s Health Insurance Program, but the Senate needs to act in order for the funding to continue.

“We’ve continued to fund it on a short-term basis,” Mr. Cole, Oklahoma Republican, said on CNN. “The House has passed a bill. I think it’s a good bill. The Senate’s got to pass a bill so we can go to conference.”

He added that the bill doesn’t have to be the one the House passed, but the Senate needs to pass something in order for the process of reconciliation to move toward passing something permanent.

“I think part of this was everyone was so focused on tax reform we forget the importance of day-to-day governance,” Mr. Cole said. “That’s what really impacts most Americans every single day.”
