CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison in a nightclub shooting death in South Carolina more than two years ago.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that 38-year-old Richard Antwan Grandison Jr. of North Charleston pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter this week. Grandison also pleaded guilty to a weapons violation.

He had been charged with murder in the 2016 shooting death of 30-year-old Timothy Jamel Wilson at a North Charleston club.

Witnesses said the men had argued at the club a week before the shooting.

Prosecutor Jennifer Shealy said there were no witnesses who testified they actually saw the shooting.
