LINCOLN, Del. (AP) - Court records say a woman told Delaware authorities her boyfriend shot her because she was ending their on-again, off-again relationship.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports the woman told officers she and Javaghn D. Waples, of Lincoln, began arguing Monday while wrapping holiday gifts. She says they went to bed and she awoke Christmas morning to Waples holding her at gunpoint.

Court documents say the woman was shot once in a lung. They say Waples then shot himself in his right hand. The couple’s children, ages 12 and 15, were in a nearby room during the shooting.

Waples denies the allegations and says he was moving the gun that morning when it accidentally went off. He wasn’t able to tell police the location of the now missing weapon.
