FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Democrats have selected the members of their leadership team in the Kentucky House.
State Reps. Rocky Adkins, Derrick Graham and Joni Jenkins will serve for the next two years. Democrat caucus members voted on the team Wednesday afternoon.
Adkins will be the floor leader for the Democrats, while Graham, whose district is in Franklin County, will serve as caucus chair. Jenkins, who represents southwestern Jefferson County, will be the minority whip.
A release from the Kentucky House Democratic Caucus says Graham is the first African-American to be a Democratic leader in the House.
Adkins, who represents Elliott, Lewis and Rowan counties, has announced that he is running for governor next year.
