GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado jury has convicted a Greeley man in the death of his 4-month-old son.

The Tribune reports a Weld County jury found 34-year-old Nathan Archuleta guilty Monday of child abuse negligently causing death.

A medical examiner determined the baby died from sepsis in August 2015. Signs of pneumonia, kidney failure and dehydration were also found.

Police say the baby also had burns, bruises, broken ribs and a torn frenulum.

Attorney Keith Coleman had argued that Archuleta didn’t know his son was in dire need of medical attention, saying the child’s care was left to Archuleta’s mother and wife.

The boy’s mother Angelica Chavez was sentenced to eight years in prison. Sandy Archuleta, the mother of Nathan Archuleta, received a 24-year sentence.

Archuleta is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
