CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Brian Burke is stepping down as the Calgary Flames’ president of hockey operations.

The team said Friday that Burke will leave May 1, ending a nearly five-year run with the organization.

General manager Brad Treliving will direct the hockey operations side along with vice president of hockey operations Don Maloney and assistant general managers Craig Conroy and Brad Pascall.

Calgary was 37-35-10 and missed the playoffs this season, costing coach Glen Gulutzan and assistants Dave Cameron and Paul Gerrard their jobs. Gulutzan was replaced by Bill Peters earlier this week.

Sportsnet said Friday that Burke would join its broadcast team for the playoffs.

Burke was the general manager of the Anaheim Ducks’ 2007 Stanley Cup championship team also has been a GM with the Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the U.S. Olympic team,
