PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix officials say a planned new downtown hub for the city’s light rail system will make it convenient for passengers to transfer between the current main line and two planned new branches.
Plans approved Tuesday by the City Council would relocate and add stations and install additional track in downtown Phoenix for the current main line between Phoenix and Mesa as well planned branch lines to south Phoenix and to the State Capitol and Interstate 10 west of downtown.
The main line runs between Mesa on the east and north-central Phoenix on the west. Plans already in the works will extend the main line into Glendale.
