MESA, Ariz. (AP) - The Latest on a pedestrian fatality that partially closed a Phoenix-area freeway (all times local):
11:20 a.m.
Authorities say a pedestrian killed on westbound U.S. 60 in Mesa early Tuesday morning apparently was struck several times by passing vehicles.
The state Department of Public Safety asks drivers who were traveling on the freeway around 3 a.m. to check undercarriages of their vehicles for damage related to the victim.
The incident occurred under the Val Vista overpass shortly after 3 a.m. and the freeway was closed throughout the morning commute.
The person’s identity wasn’t released. DPS says the pedestrian was a male but didn’t have his age.

6:45 a.m.
A partial closure of a Phoenix-area freeway due to a deadly crash involving a pedestrian snarled traffic at the beginning of the Tuesday morning commute.
The crash at Val Vista Drive shortly before 4 a.m. closed westbound U.S. 60 at the Loop 202 freeway.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommended that drivers consider alternate routes.
No additional information was released.
