PITTSBURGH (AP) - An off-duty Uber driver has been jailed on charges he kidnapped a woman who called for a ride in downtown Pittsburgh, and sexually fondled her, too.

West View police say the suspect, 30-year-old Soumana Dao, wasn’t working but picked up the woman anyway Saturday night then started driving her toward his home in West View.

The woman had called for an Uber ride, but Dao wasn’t the driver sent to pick her up.

Police say Dao pulled up to his home but a neighbor intervened when they heard the woman hollering in distress.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Dao who was charged and jailed Monday on kidnapping, indecent assault and other charges. He remained jailed Tuesday.

Uber says Dao has since been removed from its ride-sharing app.
