DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man charged with stabbing to death his uncle in Des Moines won’t be going to trial.

The Des Moines Register reports that a Polk County District Court judge ruled Wednesday that 24-year-old Corderro Laurence was not mentally competent to stand trial indefinitely. A similar ruling was issued in August.

Laurence will continue to receive treatment, and prosecutors could proceed in the future if it appears his competency has been restored.

Authorities have said Laurence killed 40-year-old Kendall Moore in April.
