GENOA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in southwest Arkansas say a homeowner who’d reported multiple break-ins this year fatally shot a suspected intruder Thursday.
The Texarkana Gazette reports that the shooting happened at a home in Genoa, about 130 miles (209 kilometers) southwest of Little Rock. The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says the burglary suspect was shot and died at a hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
The newspaper reports that the 81-year-old homeowner told investigators that he owns several rental properties that have been burglarized or robbed six times within the past 10 months.
Police say authorities are still investigating the shooting and that no arrests have been made.
