Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday that claims of sexual harassment against President Trump should be taken seriously.
“I would say that all allegations should be treated seriously. I think we can’t dismiss people who make those,” Mr. Spicer said on Fox Business.
During the 2016 campaign, several women came forward claiming Mr. Trump had sexually harassed them.
A tape of Mr. Trump talking about how women allowed him to touch them in explicit ways because of his fame, surfaced in October of last year. Mr. Trump, who initially brushed it off as ’locker-room talk,’ has since said the tape was fake.
The former White House press secretary did say, however, that those accused of sexual harassment also deserve to be heard and have their say.
He added that those in elected office — like Rep. John Conyers or Sen. Al Franken, or even Mr. Trump — have a different process of being reprimanded or investigated then those in the private sector.
Both Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, and Mr. Franken, Minnesota Democrat, have been accused of inappropriate behavior.
