Robert Bigelow, the NASA-partnered aeropsace titan whose inflatable “BEAM” habitat module is affixed to the International Space Station, says aliens are an “existing presence” on Earth.
The CEO of Bigelow Aerospace sat down with CBS’s “60 Minutes” for a recent interview to discuss the potential for his technology to revolutionize space travel. Mr. Bigelow, who made his first fortune selling rental apartments in Nevada, spoke on expandable spacecraft and rockets, but his comments on aliens took journalist Lara Logan’s piece in an unanticipated direction.
“Is it risky for you to say in public that you believe in UFOs and aliens?” Ms. Logan asked for an interview that aired Sunday.
“I don’t give a damn. I don’t care,” the 73-year-old businessman replied.
“You don’t worry that some people will say, ’Did you hear that guy, he sounds like he’s crazy,’” she countered.
“I don’t care,” he said.
The FAA confirmed to CBS — without adding details — that it has sent unexplained encounters to one of the businessman’s companies.
“There has been and is an existing presence, an ET presence,” he told “60 Minutes. “And I spent millions and millions and millions — I probably spent more as an individual than anybody else in the United States has ever spent on this subject. … It’s just like right under people’s noses.”
The businessman added that his grandparents witnessed a UFO decades ago that came close to their car and “took off at a right angle and shot off into the distance.”
