TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has called the attack at an Ariana Grande concert in the United Kingdom “incredibly disquieting.”
Christie was asked Tuesday about the attack in Manchester that killed 22 people and sparked a stampede of young concertgoers.
The Republican governor says his own 13-year-old daughter is a fan of Grande, so he can imagine waiting outside a concert for her in a similar situation.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the Monday night carnage, which also left 59 people wounded. But a top American intelligence official said the claim could not be verified
Christie announced Tuesday night that flags at all state buildings in New Jersey will be flown at half-staff Wednesday to honor the victims of the blast.
