CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has pleaded guilty in connection with a fatal shooting in 2015 and been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/2qAeuv8) court records show 34-year-old Jermaine Eric Young pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter on May 12. Another count of weapons possession was dropped.
Young was originally charged with murder in the July 17, 2015, shooting of 30-year-old Tyree Grant.
Police in North Charleston say officers were called to an apartment building where they found Grant’s body in a hallway inside one of the units.
According to police, a witness told a detective that Grant came to pick up some belongings from her apartment, and that Young was with him. The witness said the two men began fighting before the shooting.
