NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been charged with domestic violence and has been suspended.

The Post and Courier reports (https://bit.ly/2p0jkhi ) the North Charleston Police Department charged 28-year-old Preston Capers on Sunday.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Lt. Rita Zelinsky says Capers has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

The incident report says officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance. Capers admitted he had pushed his wife, 26-year-old Edrysh Capers, into a wall after she bumped into him.

A witness told police that both the Capers had been verbally aggressive toward each other, but Preston Capers was the “primary aggressor” in Sunday’s fight about getting their child ready for church.

He was charged with second-degree domestic violence and released Monday morning. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
