MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - A 31-year-old South Carolina woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of her father days after she was evicted from her parents’ home.

The Post and Courier reports (https://bit.ly/2q4QYEL) Brittany Simpson was charged Tuesday with murder and possession of a firearm in a violent crime in the death of 65-year-old Robert Simpson.

Mount Pleasant Police Department Inspector Chip Googe says officers responded to the scene around 6 a.m. Tuesday. Police announced the arrest nearly 12 hours later, after using dogs, drone aircraft and boats to search nearby marshland for evidence.

Court records indicated that Robert Simpson’s wife sought an eviction order against their daughter in March, which was granted last Thursday.

Police haven’t revealed a possible motive. It’s unclear if Brittany Simpson has an attorney.
