NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A 21-year-old man has died in a hospital several weeks after he was shot during a robbery attempt in Dorchester County.

Coroner Paul Brouthers told The Post and Courier of Charleston (https://bit.ly/2mBwEsB ) that 21-year-old Jaquan Dakim Jones died Saturday at Trident Medical Center.

Deputies say Jones was shot Feb. 21 as a man and two teens tried to rob him.

Maj. Tony Phinney says Jones was with two other people when the suspects approached him and shots were fired.

One of the teens was also shot and hospitalized. Phinney says charges have not yet been filed against the teens.

Twenty-year-old Lakedren Terrell Amaru Thompson of North Charleston was arrested last month and charged with three counts of attempted murder. No word yet on whether the charges will be upgraded.
