FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The Sea and Sand Festival scheduled for next month in Folly Beach may be moved to early fall so the sponsor has more time to address criticisms of the recent FollyGras street party.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/2mOSziF) the Mardi Gras-themed event on Feb. 25 drew complaints from some residents regarding excessive drinking, an unruly crowd, littering and traffic jams.

Folly Association of Businesses President Lewis Dodson says the group will ask the City Council for permission to change the date of Sea and Sand from April 8 to a weekend in September. He says postponing the event will give the group more time to hire extra event staff and security, and gather more input from the public.

Dodson says Sea and Sand was originally held in the fall, but was moved after Hurricane Hugo.
