CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say DNA evidence found in a stabbing victim’s car has led to the arrest of a suspect in a previously unsolved assault case in Jackson County.

The Oregon State Police said Tuesday that 40-year-old Aaron Dale Eaton, of Phoenix, Oregon, has been booked on felony charges of assault, robbery and kidnapping after his arrest Friday.

Court records show Eaton was arraigned Monday and ordered held on $500,000 bond in the Feb. 23 stabbing of 42-year-old Christopher Applegate.

Court documents list Los Abogados Attorney Consortium as Eaton’s court-appointed attorneys.

A receptionist at the firm says the court has not yet designated a specific attorney.

OSP Detective Brendon Quirke says in court papers that Eaton confessed in an interview after his arrest.

This story has been corrected to show that Eaton is from Phoenix, Oregon, not Phoenix, Arizona.
