PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The president and chief operating officer of Women & Infants Hospital is stepping down amid a planned acquisition of the hospital’s parent company, Care New England.
Mark Marcantano’s departure was confirmed Thursday by Care New England Chief Financial Officer Joseph Iannoni. He says an interim president will be appointed and will remain in place until a permanent replacement is found.
Care New England President Dennis Keefe says Marcantano has been at the hospital for seven and half years. His resignation was to have taken effect Friday.
Marcantano says he’s thankful for having had the opportunity to work alongside the team of health care professionals.
