DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - City officials have placed the Davenport fire chief on administrative leave.

Fire officials and Mayor Frank Klipsch wouldn’t discuss why Chief Lynn Washburn was removed from her post Monday. Klipsch says he couldn’t discuss the matter because it’s a personnel issue.

Assistant Chief Jim Bickford will take over in the interim, pending action by City Administrator Corri Spiegel. Bickford says Washburn and Spiegel will be meeting yet this week.

Washburn was hired by Davenport in 2011 after spending 29 years with the Rockford (Illinois) Fire Department. A public listing for her couldn’t be found.
