Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president and CEO of the National Rifle Association, pledged Friday that his organization will have President Trump’s back “for the next eight years.”

“Folks, the media said we were [re]arranging deck chairs on the Titanic by backing Trump,” Mr. LaPierre told attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland. “But we’re still standing, and we’re still here, and we [have] got President Trump’s back.”

“For the next eight years,” he added, to cheers and applause.

The NRA gave its earliest-ever presidential endorsement to Mr. Trump last year at its convention in May and was one of the president’s biggest outside backers during the campaign.

“The NRA has been a great supporter. They love our country,” Mr. Trump said earlier in the day.
