Board chairman gives $1.5 million to Wilmington high school

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The chairman of the board of a Catholic high school in Delaware has made a donation of $1.5 million to the school.

Steve Hyde, president of a financial planning firm, and his wife, Lisa, announced the donation to St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington on Friday.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Lisa Hyde graduated from St. Mark’s in 1977, and their daughter, Caitlyn, graduated in 2007.

Hyde says money comes with no strings attached, and could be used for anything, including new technology and scholarships.

Hyde helps run the Lawrence H. Hyde Jr. Charitable Trust, which was founded by his father in 1993.

The school has about 500 students.
