The White House vouched for President Trump’s good health Thursday, saying that he slurred words at the end of a speech a day earlier due to a “dry throat.”
“The president’s throat was dry, nothing more than that,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
She said the president was in good health and would undergo a routine annual check up next month at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, as is customary for presidents.
Records of the medical exam would be made public by the physician upon completion, Mrs. Sanders said.
Questions were posed about the state of Mr. Trump’s health after he garbled the words “United States” at the end of a speech Wednesday in which he recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
At the time, the White House responded to questions about whether Mr. Trump had ill-fitting dentures or was suffering from a medical episode by saying “his throat was dry” and “there’s nothing to it.”
