NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Austin Tilghman posted a triple-double, Mustapha Traore a double-double and Louie Pillari hit five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points to propel Monmouth to an 85-64 victory over Yale on Friday.
Tilghman finished with 11 points, a career-high 15 assists and a career-best 14 rebounds for the Hawks (4-8), who halted a four-game losing streak. Traore added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Monmouth, which won the battle of the boards 38-28.
Miye Oni made four 3-pointers and scored 25 for the Bulldogs (6-8), while Blake Reynolds and Paul Atkinson scored 12 and 10, respectively.
The Hawks thrived on offense, shooting 56 percent (29 of 52) from the floor, 62.5 percent (10 of 16) from 3-point range and 94 percent (17 of 18) at the free-throw line. Yale, meanwhile, connected on just 21 of 55 shots (38 percent) from the floor, including 7 of 27 (26 percent) from long range. The Bulldogs also struggled at the foul line, making 15 of 27 (56 percent).
Monmouth trailed 24-23 late in the second half, but Pillari and Tilghman each scored four in a 10-0 run and the Hawks never trailed again.
