CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina strip club bouncer charged in connection with the death of a patron has agreed to pay a fine rather than face prison time.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that 34-yearold Alfred Joseph Asher Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor count of public disorderly conduct and was fined $332.50. Asher was originally charged with voluntary manslaughter in the May 2016 death of 56-year-old David Lacz, of Florida.
A police report says Lacz was being escorted from Stilettos Gentlemen’s Club by Asher when Lacz rushed Asher, who pushed Lacz away to defend himself. The report says Lacz fell and hit his head on concrete pavement.
Arrest affidavits stated two witnesses contradicted Asher’s story, but prosecutors said 10 witnesses backed Asher’s account.
