Authorities say five people were injured and transported to hospitals after a multivehicle collision that resulted in a tanker truck carrying jet fuel overturning on top of the front of a pickup truck in southwest Phoenix.
Fire Capt. Larry Subervi says authorities are trying to sort out what caused the Monday morning incident.
Subervi says the tanker and pickup drivers were transported to trauma centers with unspecified injuries and that three other people who were in separate vehicles were transported for treatment of minor injuries.
He says two other people were evaluated but either refused transported or didn’t have significant injuries.
Subervi says approximately 150 gallons of fuel leaked from the tanker but that hazardous material teams were able to clean it up. The rest of the tanker’s load will be transferred to another tanker.
