SEAFORD, Del. (AP) - A fire has claimed the lives of five horses and caused an estimated $750,000 in losses.

The News Journal in Wilmington, Delaware, reported Monday that the blaze remains under investigation. It occurred in Seaford at about 7:20 a.m. on Monday.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy fire at one end of the stable. Workers were already rescuing horses. Seven were saved.

One firefighter suffered minor burns to his feet. The estimated losses include the value of the horses.
