LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fire officials say two children have been critically injured and a Los Angeles police officer was also taken the hospital after a house fire.
The Los Angeles Fire Department says the fire was reported in the single-family home shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday in Wilmington.
Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart says a 15-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
She says the mother of the two children was evaluated at the scene but did not have any medical complaints.
Stewart says a Los Angeles police officer was also injured and taken the hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
The cause of the fire is still being determined but Los Angeles arson investigators were headed to the scene.
