PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix is under an excessive heat warning through Thursday, with high temperatures forecast to range up to 111 degrees in the metro area while highs in southwestern Arizona may reach up to 115 degrees.
The National Weather Service urges people working or active outside to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and schedule outdoors activities for early morning or after sunset.
The Salvation Army is reacting to the warning by activating 14 heat-relief stations across metro Phoenix for cooling and hydration.
