Chris Evans, the star of Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War,” isn’t letting up in his personal war of words with President Trump.

The man who plays Captain America on the silver screen told Esquire magazine in March that he harbors an inner “rage” and “fury” toward the commander in chief. On Monday, he once again unloaded on Mr. Trump over recent remarks in Long Island to the Suffolk County Police Academy.

“When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, the way you put the hand over […] and they’ve just killed somebody. Don’t hit their head? I said, ’you can take the hand away, OK?’” Mr. Trump said July 28 while speaking about arrested MS-13 gang members.

“You reckless moron,” Mr. Evans tweeted Monday for his 6.4 million Twitter followers. “Do you have any idea what you’re encouraging? You think a ’joke’ makes it OK?? ZERO societal awareness and understanding.”

The actor previously told Esquire that he must control his “unbelievable” anger at Mr. Trump because too many political tweets become “white noise” to followers.

“Look, I’m in a business where you’ve got to sell tickets,” he said. “But, my God, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I felt strongly about something and didn’t speak up. I think it’s about how you speak up. We’re allowed to disagree. If I state my case and people don’t want to go see my movies as a result, I’m OK with that.”

“Avengers: Infinity War,” by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, comes out May 4, 2018.
