ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 34-year-old western New York man has been sentenced for fatally shooting another man in a drug-related slaying on Halloween night in 2012.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Rochester says Tyshawn Simmons was sentenced Tuesday to more than 27 years in federal prison for killing Ryan Adams.

Prosecutors say Simmons believed Adams was an informant so he shot him six times on Oct. 31, 2012, while Adams sat in the driver’s seat of his car on a Rochester street.

Officials say Simmons was part of a long-running, violent drug trafficking ring in Rochester. Other members, including 23-year-old Franklin Brock Jr. and his 43-year-old father, were also sentenced Tuesday.
