PITTSBURGH (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton made two surprise appearances at western Pennsylvania campaign events for his wife, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Bill Clinton first showed up in Pittsburgh at four-song Get Out the Vote concert by rocker Jon Bon Jovi at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum Thursday evening. The 42nd president then showed up at Erie County Democratic headquarters in Erie later that night.
Clinton’s appearances weren’t advertised beforehand.
At both locations he told the crowd that voter turnout is crucial and that if his wife wins it will likely mean “30 years of the most exiting shared prosperity” in U.S. history.
Clinton is scheduled to make three campaign stops across Pennsylvania on Friday, and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, the Republican vice presidential candidate, will be in eastern Pennsylvania, too.
