President Obama taunted a heckler who interrupted him Friday at a Hillary Clinton rally, speculating that the supporter of Donald Trump was “being paid to be here.”
“Go knock on some doors for your guy,” Mr. Obama told the heckler at an outdoor rally in Cleveland. “That’s a better way for you to spend your time. Unless you’re just being paid to be here. Everybody’s gotta make a living.”
The president was only a few minutes into his campaign speech, telling the crowd he had worked as hard as he could for the nation, when a man in the crowd shouted at him, “While you’re not golfing!”
“Hold on a second young man, don’t be interrupting everybody,” the president scolded.
The same man began shouting, “Bill Clinton’s a rapist! Bill Clinton’s a rapist!” Then he opened his jacket to reveal and t-shirt with Mr. Clinton’s image and the word “RAPE.”
The president told the crowd, “C’mon everybody, let’s do our little chant. … Hillary, Hillary!”
When the crowd followed his lead, Mr. Obama said, “I think we’re okay now. This has been happening everywhere. I keep telling folks, you’ve got to organize your own rallies. If you’re confident about the other guy, just go to his rallies. If tell confident about my candidate, that’s why I’m at this rally.”
