DETROIT (AP) - A 20-year-old Detroit motorist who ran a stop sign and killed a 6-year-old boy has been ordered to serve at least three years in prison.

WDIV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2emhWjJ ) that Dobeyontia Williams was sentenced Friday to between three and 15 years in prison for reckless driving causing death. Police say the April crash killed Antonio Lucky Jr. and injured his 2-year-old sister and mother.

Williams apologized to Antonio’s family gathered in the courtroom. The boy’s aunt, Gertistine Houston, forgave Williams but says there are “no winners in this case.” Antonio’s mother, Kenyetta Gaines, says Williams’ contrition is not “enough” and “won’t take the pain away.”

Police say Williams’ vehicle struck the car carrying Antonio’s family after he disregarded a stop sign and drove through a Detroit intersection.
