HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The Democratic Governors Association is spending heavily to oppose Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Gianforte and to support Montana Democrats in the final days before the elections.

The DGA-funded Good Jobs Montana political action committee spent $803,000 on television ads opposing Gianforte between Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. The ad buys were funded in part with an infusion of $425,000 made that week by the national organization.

Campaign finance reports released Tuesday also show the DGA also gave $240,000 to the Montana Democratic Party last week.

Gianforte is in a close race against the incumbent, Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock.

The new reports show Gianforte gave his campaign another $500,000 last week, while Bullock raised $155,000.

Gianforte’s campaign had $345,200 left in the bank as of Thursday. Bullock had about $156,700 left to spend.
