Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said Saturday he’s not surprised that Donald Trump pulled out of his appearance at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, suggesting the New York billionaire and GOP presidential front-runner is not a conservative.
Asked about Mr. Trump’s absence, Mr. Rubio said, “This is the American Conservative Union, and it is usually reserved for conservatives.”
Mr. Trump informed the ACU, which hosts the event, Friday that he was cancelling a scheduled appearance here Saturday.
Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Gov. John Kasich of Ohio also attended the event.
