The Republican presidential debate Thursday night in Miami was so cordial for the first 30 minutes that even Donald Trump noticed.

“So far I cannot believe how civil it’s been up here,” Mr. Trump said after a mild exchange with Sen. Ted Cruz over alleged flip-flops in his positions on ethanol and immigration.

“We’re all in this together,” Mr. Trump said. “We’ll find solutions.”

The “Kumbaya” moment was in stark contrast to last week’s debate, when the candidates attacked each other repeatedly and talked over each other.

Mr. Cruz did accuse Mr. Trump Thursday night of “funding liberal Democrats and funding the Washington establishment” with campaign donations in the past.

“The question you should ask is when have you ever stood up to Washington?” Mr. Cruz asked.
