OPINION:
After watching former President Bill Clinton give his speech at the Democratic National Convention, one would have to come away thinking that old “Slick Willie” had once again hit it out of the proverbial ballpark. That is, until you look at what he said and didn’t say.
While trying to ingratiate himself with his feeble-minded followers, Mr. Clinton told us how he was smitten by his wife-to-be in their college days and said she was more or less the aggressor after she caught him staring at her. He said he bought a house she liked and told her she would have to marry him. Did Hillary con Bill into buying her a house, or did Bill manipulate Hillary and guilt her into marriage? At any rate, they may have conned each other.
Bill’s grand speech about their great marriage left out his cheating during his time in the White House. He disgraced the presidency, but in his speech he glazed over the misery we went through as a country because of his philadering by saying he and Hillary had a few rough patches.
His talk also ignored Hillary’s illegal use of a server in his own house. As a two-term president, surely he knew the protocol on keeping our national secrets secure. I also can’t help but wonder where Bill was the night of the attack on our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, where our ambassador and his men were murdered. Was he asleep next to his wife?
From my perspective as an independent voter, stories of love and hardship are endearing — but half-truths and deception to make you think a fairy tale is real are pathetic. Do we really need the Clintons bringing their dirty laundry back into the White House?
