Former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a three-time GOP presidential candidate, will attend a rally in support of his son, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, at the University of Iowa on Jan. 31 — the day before the Iowa Caucus.

The elder Mr. Paul will appear at the “Revolution Continues Rally” in Iowa City, according to the Kentucky senator’s presidential campaign.

Though he ultimately came up short, the former Texas congressman had attracted a devoted band of supporters during his last presidential run, which hit on libertarian-minded themes and efforts like auditing the Federal Reserve.

The younger Mr. Paul’s campaign said in announcing the event that the two men “will focus on energizing the youthful base by discussing the importance of protecting the entire Bill of Rights and being boldly for conservative ideals that limit the powers of the Washington Machine.”
