CLARKSTON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a Detroit-area jewelry store owner was shot during an armed robbery.
Oakland County sheriff’s officials say the 51-year-old man was shot in the back and struck in the head with a gun during the Saturday afternoon holdup at Clarkston Jewelry Outlet. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released.
Deputies say two masked men took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry from a safe and fled. The victim’s 20-year-old son followed them in a vehicle and attempted to block their vehicle.
One of the suspects shot at the son but the rounds missed.
Investigators say one suspect, a 48-year-old parolee from Detroit, was arrested. The second suspect, who stole a vehicle from a nearby home, hasn’t been caught.
